Doll Notes
I initially bought this head to shell Ink's brother-Altair, but knew it would need some modifications to better suit the character. When the head arrived, however, I thought the sculpt was stunning as it was but even with mods wouldn't fit the character I'd intended it for. I debated selling it, but the sculpt is just so pretty. Then it occured to me that it would be perfect for Ink! Ink isn't a character I was initially planning on shelling, at least not this early on, as they're quite minor in comparision to the others I am shelling. However, I thought as I already had the head, it would be a fun oppurtunity. Not long after, I spotted a damaged and modified Dollshe Hound project body for sale- my favourite BJD body there is! I'm really pleased I decided to go for it, I think it suits the character well and, as it was quite discoloured, wasn't afraid to modify and blush it to my hearts content.
The previous owner had sanded the neck down greatly (I assume to fit a smaller head.) This didn't work for the JR head at all, so i got to do my first ever doll mod- buffing the neck up with some epoxy resin! It was both more fun and more difficult than I anticipated, but once I got the hang of it, it went pretty well. Luckily, because Ink is covered in black markings, I was able to just paint the whole thing black once done. It's certainly not perfect- if you look up close you can see bumps and ridges where it meets the resin, but it works perfectly well and overall blends in fine, so I'm not too worried about that.
Character Notes
Ink is a god and sibling of Altair and Paloma. They have a petulant, perpetually bored air about them and tend to fly below the radar, drawing little attention to themself. Their siblings know very little of how Ink spends their time, often mocking them for it. Ink does not mind this. They prefer to be left alone, for the most part and, as far as they are concerned, if their father is so bored by them that he ignores them entirely, all the better. They try not to show it, but they care deeply about their siblings and worry about their wellbeing, even if they can't stand to be around them most of the time. They occasionally encourage their siblings to lay low and not draw so much attention to themselves.
They are a great enjoyer of music of all kinds and find beauty in all things dark, secret and hidden. You might find Ink at the back of a one off concert attended by only three other people, or admiring the grafitti under a long abandoned railway bridge. They are generally content to just drift through existence, finding forgotten things and experiencing whatever they have to offer.
